The best arcade in Las Vegas

There are several arcades here in Las Vegas. Many are located in casinos or shopping malls. Especially, when having kids in tote, those are two places I try to avoid the most. I'm neither of a fan of indoor clustered shopping nor cigarette smoke. But, as a happy accident, we discovered an arcade that not only was stand alone but also reminiscent of the arcades I frequented as a child.
For Jason's birthday I put together a "this or that" adventure filled with good food and geeky stuff. As I searched for things to do near a donut shop in China Town I happened to see Game Nest on the map. A few photos in, I was sold and the Game Nest was added to a That! And, it was that that, that was chosen :)
A hidden gem tucked away on a side street in China Town the Game Nest sits with a bold and colorful facade. As soon as you open the door you take an immediate step back into your childhood. The dark room with glowing arcade lights and the sounds of race cars, bells, and the clicks and clanks air hockey pucks.
As usual you can purchase credits but they also have a play by the hour option! It excludes tickets and prize games but it's totally worth it if you just want play games and you're on a budget. We chose the play the hour option and had a blast!
My favorite parts of the arcade was the back wall where they had a great selection of Japanese rhythm games. I have never played Nostoagia, which was a piano style rhythm game, but I couldn't stop for a hot minute. It's a little addicting. There is also a claw machine you can walk through and its a great photo op! These were elements of surprise that made the experience truly unique.
We plan to return with the kiddos in the near future and will post about the kid's experience when we do.
